The Snowy Mountains & Monaro region in southern New South Wales is the premier fly fishing district in mainland Australia. The numerous rivers and lakes offer many options for both experienced fly fishers or those who wish to learn about fly fishing.

The scenic and diverse rivers and lakes are an ideal location to experience fly fishing in Australia.

These fabulous waters include renowned lakes Eucumbene and Jindabyne, as well as many smaller impoundments and private still waters.

The Thredbo, Eucumbene and Murrumbidgee Rivers offer excellent Dry and Wet Fly fishing in crystalline ripples and runs, as do smaller more intimate high country streams.

At a slightly lower altitude are the legendary Monaro rivers. The Maclaughlin River and Bobundara Creek are just two of the fertile granite and basalt streams that conjure images of large educated brown trout slowly sipping mayfly duns - enough to make even the most experienced fly fishers pulse race.

The unspoilt Delegate region to the south also offers superb fly fishing in the numerous peat streams gently flowing through the area.

Whether you are just starting out in fly fishing or a veteran of many seasons, the multitude of fly fishing options in the Snowy Mountains & Monaro region provide a whole new dimension for you to experience.

Encompassing the towns of Cooma, Jindabyne and Thredbo as well as smaller villages such as Adaminaby and Delegate provides accommodation options to suit all tastes.

As the district's longest serving and most experienced fly fishing guide, I can assist you in deciding where to base yourself depending on your requirements and the timing of your visit - enabling you to gain the most productive outcome from your trip.

You will also find many other interesting activties in the region. Kosciuszko National Park is a centre piece where wildlife abounds and non fishing friends and partners can always find plenty to do and see.

Guiding

trout fishing guiding. All tackle and equipment provided

Fly fishers visiting the Snowy Mountains & Monaro region can benefit from my fly fishing guide service.

Throughout the fly fishing season the regions rivers and lakes all fish well at certain times. Experience and knowledge of local conditions gained over decades of fly fishing the Snowy Mountains and Monaro enables me to choose for you the most productive waters.

I'm regularly guiding, teaching fly fishing, or casting a fly myself and can advise you how to best approach and fly fish the regions rivers and lakes.

I provide fly fishing tackle (waders, rods and reels etc.), lunch, refreshments and courtesy transportation from your accommodation to our chosen water. Apart from yourselves all you need to bring along is a hat and suitable outdoor clothing. Seasoned fly anglers will also benefit from my fly fishing guide service. I also have a N.S.W. fisheries license exemption certificate - you will not need your own licence when fishing with me.

As a member of the Professional Fishing Instructors and Guides Association with a Certificate II in tourism and Aussie Host accreditation, I aim to make your time in the region a truly productive and enjoyable experience.

Tuition

Fly fishing tuition and instruction Advanced instruction and coaching

Fly fishing is a rewarding and exciting pursuit.

Learning to fly fish by yourself can be a frustrating task - made much easier by utilizing the services of a specialist, qualified and experienced fly fishing/fly casting Instructor and guide.

I have a nationally recognised category 1 Training Certificate and have been offering fly fishing tuition since 1994.

If your a first timer a day out with an expert can be worth much more than months on your own. You will learn basic fly casting, fly fishing methods and gain an understanding of fly tackle, the trouts food and the various flies we use to imitate it.

For more experienced fly fishers wishing to take that next step I can help you iron out casting problems and show you how to approach and catch fish in more challenging situations.

My extensive teaching program is conducted on the water - working directly with clients as individuals or small groups, rather than a large school environment. I can put together a package to suit your requirements. As with guiding, all equipment and licensing is provided.
